Alpha Protocol is a fantastic game that got a lot of  flack from people because how they wanted the game to play and not how it was.  It is an espionage RPG as it states in the title and does not shy away from that fact. Your aim starting off in the game is not perfect but like most RPGs you need to allocate points into the type of weapon/s you want to be proficient at and when you do that you get all the bonuses you would expect. Such as if you decide to go the pistol route as I did you can easily get head shots off and clear a room in no time.

The game has everything you should expect going in a spy game and it does not disappoint. With what seems like a fairly open game in terms of what area you go to first anyone playing it can have very different outcomes ranging to who your allies and enemies  are throughout the game to what characters are dead and who might help you during certain missions if you just so happen to be their friends. I played through the game once and felt like my story was complete so while I’m not sure what all can change through the game but from the amount of decisions they give you it at least appears like there are a decent amount of replayability for those that like to see everything a game has to offer. Along with the four types of weapons and other skills such as stealth, sabotage, technical aptitude, toughness, and martial arts there is a lot to get in this game. On my play I did stealth, pistols, and toughness and found it really fun just sneaking around the levels and if I happen to get caught I can kill everyone with a head shot fairly fast.

The only two issues with the game is the cover mechanic is not as smooth as it could be and time to time causes more issues then it’s worth. The other issue are the boss fights in the game, other then one or two of them they were not that fun and one can be more difficult then anything else in the game and that wouldn’t normally be an issue but they never really challenged what you learned through the game and just were made to be a pain but again that could just be because how I played the game and maybe if a person with toughness and shotguns or submachine guns they wouldn’t be an issue.

Alpha Protocol has one of the most entertaining and refreshing stories that I’ve got to be part of in a long time and it’s disappointing that there won’t be another one.

One Response so far.

Again, don’t play shooters much, but I’ll check it out.
